Day of the Thunder Lord
I have always love mythology, being more fond of Norse, then Greek legends. Originally, I had intended this painting to be a single 18/24 panel. It was to depict, the mighty god of thunder, Thor, raising his hammer to the heavens and screaming the name of his father, lord Odin. One day, as I was looking at my progress, I noticed, that if I would extend the background mountains, further to the side and downwards at the viewer, that I could create greater distance and more scope. With the addition of five more panels of the same size, I changed my concept, to now have Thor, in the land of the giants, ready for battle. After an exhaustive three months of work, the finished painting, when mounted and framed, measured 48/54. A triumph of my imagination running away with me.
